flat forehead???

I was just looking at some picture of another little girl that has left coronal CS and her forehead on the left side doesn't appear as flat as Miriam's. Miriam has absoluting no brow line at all on that side. I was wondering if anyone else had that problem and what the doctors might due because of it? Will the surgery give her a brow line? I have attached a picture to show. Thanks

That's exactly the way Doodles was. When she was born, it was almost like her eye itself was out farther than her forehead. It was completely flat, like there was no eyebrow bone at all. You would never know now. That's the Orbital Advancement that they do when they do the (CVR) Cranial Vault Reconstruction. They bring the brow bone (Orbital) out to where it should be, and it fixes the brow line, it will look amazingly different the firs ttime you see her after surgery, before the swelling. I cried, it was her, but she looked different, the same, but different. An amazing thing to see.

Same here....completely flat.....they did correct it.....it's amazing what they can do!

Thanks for explaining. I had on my paper to ask my PS about the CVR and the FOA, and now I know what they are. I was thinking she was going to need some bone paste or a graph, but there is hope. Thanks

The should be doing it all at the same time.....they'll reshape everything and make it all pretty and even. When is your next appointment?

It looks like these ladies answered your question already. I was just going to say that since Simon had both coronal sutures fused, they brought forward the entire brow line. Before the surgery, his eyeballs started to stick out. After the surgery, the bone was further out than his eyeballs. This way, he looks "normal" and has no pressure on his eyes. I think they do the same with one suture fused, but just to the affected side. These docs are artists.

So funny, I was talking to my husband about all of this. And of course he said the PS said that by the age of 5 we won't even be able to tell that anything was wrong and that he assumed that that would mean that her brow line would be fine. Sometimes it is so hard to be on the same page that he is. I have a hard time believing that everything will be fixed all at once. I think he could tell I was annoyed with his answer because right after he said that he said that it can't hurt to ask and find out about it. (Good response) As we get closer to the surgery I am getting very anxious. There are days I can't wait for it to be over and there days I question everything they are going to do and weather it will work. Sorry for the bad vibes. I guess it is just one of those days.

I think the PS was probably talking about the slight 'twist' coronals have in their nose and the slight assemtry....it all 'evens' out over time after the surgery.. once the suture is released, it allows things to even out....but the eyes and the forehead, the NS/PS should be correcting during the surgery....

Hello! Looks like you have lots of great answers to your questions. Sylvie had left coronal and metopic so her assymmetry was a little less noticeable from the front. We could see it more from the top of her head and definitely noticed it from the back (ears were malaligned). Any how we are almost a year post op and she still has lumps and bumps and flat spots that are evening out little by little. It's my job as her mom to worry I guess! I do it well. Your little one will amaze you!! Keep posting......it helped me so much in the weeks preceeding surgery! ((HUGS)) to you!
