    Default cranio moms opinions

Would yall take your canio baby to a chiropractor for chronic ear infections? Camden is 9 months old and got tubes about a month ago, and is having constant drainage out his ears (which is basically infection). He is snotty all the time, but our ENT tells me babies don't have allergies....while our pedi says keep him on zyrtec and control the allergies....ugggggggg. I'm so confused. Our ped. wants to prescribe antibiotics for every infection...our ENT says only do the ear drops...ugggggg. If the drainage keeps up they will take out Cam's adenoids after he turns one. His hearing is also not as good as they would've liked it to be after getting tubes, so he'll have more formal hearing tests when he gets older.

Anyway, I'm a skeptic about chiropractors for babies, but I admit I don't know that much about it. I've read online that the adjustment for EI's is an occipital adjustment, which is where Camden had most of his reconstruction done....so of course I'm not sure I want anyone "messing" around there. What do my cranio moms think?? HELP!

I didn't know chiropractors could help ear infections! If they think they can help, it may be worth a try...due to the cranio, maybe check w/ the NS first? Or go to the Chiropractor and just meet w/ them first, tell them of Camden's surgeries and see what their thoughts would be...???

Thanks Jennifer! Good idea...if this is something we decide to try, we'll definitely find out what Fearon thinks about it first, as well as our ped...I can't imagine our ENT supporting going to the chiro for ear infections...lol

But yeh, I guess apparently, parents take babies to chiro's for adjustments and they've found they can help with EI's! Sounds weird, but maybe it works!! I don't know...

    Hey Amy,
Sara Grace too had tubes put in on April 3rd. She has had one ear infection since then. She has Severe allergies. I can't even dust furniture with her in the room but have to dust often and change our filter often to try to keep her well. Our pedi put her on Singulair about a month a go and it has been amazing. She has not been sick, no runny nose, watery eyes, and our ears have been clear. whoo hoo. I put one packet of powder in her morning bottle and that is it. Before the Singulair her allergies would flare up and b/c her left ear canal is so much smaller even with the tubes it still backed up but the tubes allow it to drain out. My sister knows some people locally that take their children to a chiro and the insurance will not cover it so that is something that you may want to look into. Good Luck and I hope this helps.

Thanks Donnie! He has a check-up Monday so I will ask about Singulair. That is good to hear because the Zyrtec is doing nothing for him. This is the weirdest thing ever, but today we noticed that when Cam is drinking his bottle, we can hear a popping sound in his ear...like liquid or something!!! The sound is coming THROUGH his ear! Have you ever heard that??? And it's his right ear, which is the ear that has the hearing trouble and had a small canal too.

Amy I agree about asking Fearon sorry Cam is having trouble I hope they get him "fixed" without more surgery poor lil man even adnoids can throw off a routine. I am still after forty+ forever years still on lot's of allergy meds for drainage and ear infections though they always say nothing can be done. I will keep him in my thoughts every day.

You know, I was a skeptic too. Until 5 weeks into Matthew's colic and I couldn't take another minute of it. Nursing research showed some benefit...and I took him. It worked. Two treatments and it was over.

So when Rohan showed some of the same colicky stuff, I took him to the same guy. Didn't help much, but he did find that he was really tight in his neck which we assume is because the right side of his head is heavier and it leans to the right a bit.

They don't do the "pop and crack" stuff that I hate as an adult. It's very gentle. One might be able to help. If you have tried western medicine and it's not working (or making any sense in your case), it might be worth it to try one. Find someone who is experienced working with babies. Ask around to find someone who is good.

Amy- bummer you guys are still dealing with this!!!

Q had his tubes put in @ his surgery in Feb...no infections or any kind of drainage since then. I guess I should feel lucky, huh??

I had HORRIBLE ear problems as a child, and I cringed when you described the popping noise in the ears while swallowing...I know that sound all too well as a child!!! I often still have this as an adult now too! I even had an ear drum burst when I was about 10 and have scar tissue damage in my right ear. I can't hear as well out of this side still to this day.

We did not realize the problem until MUCH later in my life as a teenager. I was being tested for allergies and asthma and the doctor noticed I had a slight milk allergy....when I drink milk products I have a reaction that makes my sinus cavities overproduce mucus. It's not the kind of "allergy" that kids have to peanuts in that all if did was make me really stuffy with mucus.

The doctor concluded that this is probably why I had so many ear infections as a child. Of course I drank TONS of whole milk...and the milk allergy caused me to produce too much mucus...which drained into my ear canals at night.

So, it's just an idea for you to look into. I wonder if you took Camden off milk poducts for a month or so if you'd see any difference??? Of course, check with his pedi before doing anything.

Hope i have helped at all!
