I'm glad today was better. Tomorrow will be even better.

Thank you all so much!! It is very comforting to know that were in the thoughts of other mums who really know what we're going through. Today was indeed even better than yesterday, and her daddy was treated to her first smile since surgery. Both eyes are properly open now too, despite being a little swollen. She came out of intensive care at lunchtime today and has no drips or beeping monitors- I'm acting as both of those now! Were in the normal part of the hospital now and she had been sleeping most of the day. She's not had a proper drunk of milk since about 11 am, 9 hours ago, but isn't showing any signs of dehydration. She's on paracetamol every 6 hours and seems to be in no pain. Can't believe she had surgery on Tuesday! Hope this brings some hope and courage to other mums facing the same ordeal. Will post some pics and ct scans when were home. Xx

Smile Metopic Cranio / trig post op second day!

I understand exactly what you're going thru! I'm in the same situation my son got surgery yesterday 7/19 for severe metopic Cranio and trig... It was the worst feeling I have ever had especially when I seen him laying in bed with a total different look! I didn't want to hold him at first because I thought I might hurt him, but then I saw that he had a dry mouth and wanted to eat , so I took him and breastfed him and have been doing that for 2 days now and although the swelling worries me, I know it's just for the better! Hold your baby talk to him he might not be able to see you but he knows it's mommy and he'll feel comfort!

So glad she's doing well! Cranio kids are amazing at how fast they heal.

Here are some photos we took today, just 5 days after surgery! Still a bit swollen around the eyes, but pretty amazing! There are some before photos in my profile. Other metopic mums - do you think her forehead is wide enough now, from the birds eye photo? I feel a little uneasy that it's still a bit narrow, and a bit rounded, but the surgeons assured us it's great and that her brain will expand it as it grows. Can't help but worry...joys of being a mum in general!

It's awful to watch them go through so much pain. As others have said, the swelling will peak and then go down. My 4-month old was off of morphine by Day 3 post op just to give you an idea of how fast things get better after the initial swelling.

Hang in there- hold your baby or touch her as much as you can and let her know by your voice that you are there. Any sounds/touches/smells that are familiar to her will help too.

Metopic with trig here. I say that time will really round out the forehead! She looks amazing for 5 days post op... my son's eyes didn't even open until Day 6. We're on Day 13 now and his head is totally round.

I think her head looks great and will round out even more as she grows. Just my opinion and I'm no expert, but she looks great to me!

I think she looks great! We are almost 4 weeks post op (Wednesday) and every day things improve. I think her forehead looks great.

We are also metopic with trig. I will post pictures on Wednesday when we are 4 weeks out. They heal so fast, Ryan is beginning to loose a few stitches.

    Hang in there!
