Thread: Eye set back post surgery

Default Eye set back post surgery

My 18m daughter is about 3 weeks post surgery for left squamosal and left coronal. She had a CVR/FOA with surgery exclusively on the left side. Because of the involvement of the squamosal suture, the swelling is taking longer than typical to go down and her left eye is still partially closed. I know they did work to build her left eye socket out but I think her left eye is set back further in her eye socket than the right (her right side was not touched during surgery).

Has anyone experienced this? Any advice? Everyday I am worried about something else, I hate this.

Cranio just bites. Do you have pictures that show what you are talking about? Have you asked your surgeon or sent them pictures? I think that a mommas instinct is strong and usually spot on. If you have a concern, you should push of a legit answer from your doc. So sorry that you are worried about this....hopefully it is just an illusion from swelling.

Thanks Cat. It's hard to capture in a picture but I will try tonight. Our dr. is very responsive and has said that with the sutures removed, her own growth will “take over” and everything we’re looking at will remodel and change. I am bringing Maggie in on Friday and he said he will let us know what he thinks and why. He's very good at explaining things.

Everyone thinks once the surgery is done than everything is great. If only.
