Default CT scan- what do I need to know?

Lucy will be having her CT scan done June 6. She is 15 months old and will be sedated for the procedure. Any tips or advice for what to expect? I know she can't have food within 4 hours or clear fluids within 2 hours before scan. What else do I need to know?
    Thanks!

My only suggestion would be to ask them to try it unsedated first. At 15 months it may be hard to keep her still enough, but if you can time it with a nap then they may not have to sedate. We were successful once with that but have had to use sedation also. Good luck, I'm sure she'll do great either way.

I agree with Tessa!! Ask for no sedation first and then if they can't do it or she won't sit still, she can still be sedated. My son had a CT when he was 2 1/2 and did great. he also had an MRI with sedation and did fine with that too so don't worry if she needs to be sedated. They do really well!! Good luck!!

The sedation is just the gas. She will fall asleep quickly and wake up quickly. It always amazes me watching my daughter come out of gas sedation. She is in a very very deep sleep snoring and all and literally the next second she is sitting straight up talking ready to go. It's kind of bizzare but they told us to expect that! You just have to watch them carefully after so they don't fall. But my daughter always wanted to be held and carried so it wasn't a problem. After my daughters last sedated CT we went straight to friendlys and she had ice cream for breakfast at 8:30 AM. You'd have never known she had just been under! Good luck!
