    Default Am I missing something??

Surgery was Monday, so that makes us 5 days post op and Clayton's poor eyes are still super puffy and pretty much swollen shut. By the end of the evening, I think he can see through a small slit on the right eye, but that's the side he sleeps on, so by morning it's back to ground zero. We are using ice all we can, keeping crib elevated and after he gets up in the morning, he never lays back down, always elevated in high chair, bouncy seat, car set or being held. Is there some other trick that could reduce swelling? I feel so bad for him and I think he's starting to get frustrated with it all.

Thanks in advance for any tips or tricks!

Have you called your doctor? My daughter's surgery was on a Thursday, and by Friday night she could see fine out of both eyes. We had endoscopic surgery.

I haven't yet, but our home health nurse is coming tomorrow..we have her due to Clayton's diagnosis of mild von Willebrand's disease. He had a frontal orbital advancement, so we anticipated tons of swelling, but not like this.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. I second the idea of calling the surgeons, as it seems like a little long for that much swelling.

His right eye is open today! Not all the way yet, but he is trying, unlike yesterday. I talked w/our home health nurse and she said we need to ice it a little more than we have been. I'm still calling the surgeon tomorrow. Everything but the swelling is great, he is acting like himself again, more so today than any before. Thanks for the advice... I will definitely call tomorrow first thing.
