    Default Post-Op Co-sleeping Question

    Hi all,

Our daughter is six months, and she has slept with us from day one. Her surgery is next Thursday. I've seen co-sleeping recommended on here, and that was such a relief to me. I'm just wondering what it looked like. Did you prop them on pillows? Did you make them a "nest" to protect their head? Were you able to breastfeed lying down? Any advice is much appreciated!

We don't typically co-sleep, but we did the first night we brought my son home from the hospital after surgery. It was the first time in days that any of us got sleep. My son actually slept through the entire night. I was so worried about rolling on him that I got some sleep, but not as much as usual. My son was 11 months at the time, so he was older. I wasn't worried about suffication since he was older. We just propped his head up on a pillow.

Good luck with surgery. If you're already co-sleeping, I don't think I'd do anything differently except maybe prop her head up. The best medicine is going to be normalcy. She'll be so happy to be at home.

I wasn't breastfeeding, but I don't see that it would be a problem. My son slept in his own bed the following night and did great!

I was a co-sleeper We had the crib in our room, she would start off in it but end up with me. We had no sleeping restrictions from our surgeon, I tried to elevate the crib for one night, but she was 10 months old so she just moved to the other end of the crib....when I brought her in with me, she never used a pillow, she just would lay beside me...no issues at all.

Thank you so much for your replies. I guess I'm just so nervous about her little head. I feel like I want to wrap it in bubble wrap before we bring her home!

We co-sleep and since coming home from the hospital have had no issues. I nurse lying down (Myles wakes 2x per night but goes right back to sleep)

That's the only way anybody could get any sleep after my boys had surgery. If they sleep in their own beds they'd wake up scared. I let them sleep on a fluffy pillow. Also I was able to breast feed laying down.
