    Default Dillon's craniofacial appointment today

It was a very quick visit. Dr. Jackson is awesome, which makes him a super busy man (he was leaving to do some work in India in the morning) The first thing the he noticed was Dillon's forehead. He still has that bruised looking area and a bit of what looks like a dent. He looked over Dillon's chart, measured his mellon, and then we talked about the asymmetry that is returning in his face. I asked him what might cause that to return (I was worried about premature coronal fusion again, don't know what age is "normal" for them to close) and my answer was that he wanted a 3D CT scan done. Fortunately, we already have a scan scheduled through his neurosurgeon, so Dr. Jackson gave him a call to have it changed to a 3D CT. It's the 31st, which seems so far away. Hopefully it's just some normal shifting. I hate waiting.

We will be praying it is normal also!!! What did he say would cause the "dented/bruising" look? Is that to be expected?

Is it possible that the bruising look is caused from lots of viens? Mikayla has a lot on her forehead too. It looks like she has bruises above her eyes and a little to the side.

Emily also has a very prominant vein on her right eye- has been mistaken for a bruise......Did he say what the normal age for the coronal to fuse was??
Good luck at the appointment---hopefully it will provide some answers.....

He didn't say what the normal age was, just said he wanted a CT. The bruise looking area is veins that are near the skin, I think the concern is the shifting and the dent. Dr. J called the area on his forehead something, but I can't remember what he said

    Katie,

I hope it's nothing major and that there are no other sutures fused. I remember you saying that they wanted to do touch up surgery later on, did he ever mention what age? I hope all goes well for the sedation for the CTscan. Keep us posted.

I'm with you on the worry wagon. Simon seems to have a ridge running along the metopic suture line which I just noticed this week. (He hasn't sat still ong enough for me to feel anything through his hair until now.) Fortunately, we have a cranio clinic on Monday. Also, I am wondering if the front of his head is still supposed to be protruding. From behind and from the front, his head and face look great. From the side, it looks like the skull cap shifted forward or something. Hopefully, they will tell me that all this is normal. We shall see.
