scares not healed before helmet what to do?
Im new to this site but i really like what I seen in here wow so many people with this same problem and parents that love there kids so much and how so many parents like to help otheres, so my lil girl Karena is now 5 months old and did here Surgury 1 month ago Thank god it all went perfect, we had to go to the hospital and get her head scaned for the helmet, it takes 2 weeks to make it and were going in this week to put it on and then they said we have to go in one week after to refit it again, but she still has scares most of it has healed on the sides very nice, but on the top there is still some blood dried crust and is not healing, the hospital said only to put the cream on for 3-4 days but i kept puting it on for 1 week because it was still not looking good to me which helped out better, so now her helmet goes on this week and im scared that shes going to sweet in there and i dont want to see an infection or it get worse? any help would be helpful or what to do thanks, Also i had one other Question how did your kids deal with the helmet on for the very first time? was it hard for them to get used to it or sleep with it on? since its got to be on for 23 hours, my lil girl is a very hyper girl? thanks again

My son Alex was not all healed up when he got the helmet on either. I was concerned about it also. I asked about it and they said it was not a problem. He never had a problem with infections and he definitely sweated a lot in the beginning!! Also when we started our helmet, it was not 23 hours right away. The first day was hour on hour off, then the next day was 2 hours on, one hour off, then 4 and 8(I think, cant remember exactly) then it got to the 23 hours on. I'm not sure if thats how it works everywhere. Alex adjusted really well to the helmet. He was not upset by it and it did not stop him from doing anything, except that he was just getting good at sitting up and the weight of the helmet made him fall over more. That didnt last long though, he built up new strength for it quickly. It also did not affect his sleeping. Like the other mom said, it was much harder for me. The first day I had a hard time getting used to it, and was not good at putting it on and taking it off so having to do that every hour was really hard because I felt like I was hurting him and frustrated that I couldnt do it.
