Can my daughter's frequent ear infections (more than 10 to date) have anything to do with the way her skull is shaped and the fact that her eustatian tubes are not draining as they should? Just wondering if there may be a link between the two.

I wonder about this also. Camryn cant get rid of her ear infections. She has had 6 and she is 10 months old.

Don't know if there is a connection. Some Craniokids have ear infection problems and some do not. That being said, my son (metopic) had a horrid time with ear infections and since he got ear tubes put in, nothing!

Jessica - did he get tubes before or after his surgery for his metopic?

We have an appointment with the ENT in May. Hopefully, they will agree that she is a candidate for tubes.
Ear tubes done months after (surgery June, ear tubes november), but ear infections all of the time before and after surgery.

In coronal cases, there can definitely be a link. Not only is the shape of the skull and eye orbits affected but everything else in the skull. The eustachian tubes can be straight instead of angled, meaning fluid cannot drain properly. Then, stagnation occurs, leading to infection.
With coronal cases, the babe will need to also be monitored by a pediatric ophthalmologist. Additionally, problems with the jaw can occur.

I don't know if there is a link. But in my case Skye has only had 1 ear infection and Patrick has never had one. But my son Gabriel did suffer ear infections when he was a baby more than 20 he had the ear tubes put in at 1 year old by an ENT. He doesn't have cranio but he has autism.
*Sarai 9/96 no cranio (my Ballerina Dancer)*Gabriel 11/01 no cranio (has Autism & TS) (my lil' inventor)L*Skye 5/08 (my future Oscar winner actress) Severe Metopic Trigonocephaly & both coronal fused *surgery 11/20/08*(Skye has: Mosaic Turner's Syndrome, PDD, Bicuspid Aortic Valve)*Patrick 8/09 (my sweet baby) Severe Metopic Trigo & Autism *surgery 3/15/10* Noah 4/12 (My lil handsome baby) Surgeries @ Miami Children's Hospital in Miami, FLDr. S. Anthony Wolfe (PS) & Dr. John Ragheb (NS)
Not sure about the connection but it could be possible with how their head shape is. My oldest (non-cranio) had terrible ear infections until he had ear tube when he was 2 1/2. My youngest (lambdoidal cranio) had a few ear infections early on but now he is almost three we have not had any for awhile.
Good luck with the ENT.
