    Default Lemon sign??

During my 16 and 20 week ultrasounds with my daughter, they noticed that she had a kind of lemon-shaped head (birds-eye view) or a "lemon sign." I read that this can be an indication for spina bifida (which my daughter doesn't have). Since I think I read of someone else's baby having a lemon sign, I was wondering if this could also be a sign of craniosynostosis. Did anyone else have this?

I did not have that...but when I look back at my ultra sound pics of Jeffrey, in his profile view, his forehead is BRIGHT white...I think it must be because his metopic suture was fused and thicker bone. I WISH I could look back at his birds eye shot....I would give anything to go back and see the shape with what I know now!

I think I remember a syndrome being associated with a lemon shaped head. But since it was at her ultrasound, try not to worry too much. They are just trying to gather as much info as possible at those, but are obviously limited by the baby being inside. Once the baby is out they can clearly see everything they were estimating on. If your daughter is getting the all clear now, that's what matters. Maybe ask her doctor about it at your next appt?
