4 month well baby check

Peyton had her 4 month well baby check today with the new pediatrician. I like him so far, hes really nice. The only thing that was wierd is that they dont do shots there we have to go to the health dept. Well anyways i told him about her head and he felt it and the ridge and said he could feel what he thought was them overlaping but he wasnt 100 percent confident, but he did say she was more than likely going to need surgery. He was very impressed with head control and and over all stability. He did say her eyes were set a little more apart then normal. ? Does anyone know what this could mean? and that her eyes tended to go opposite way, but thought it could just be an illiousion due to the wider set. Again could that mean anything? Still waiting for our 3 scheduled appt with the neuro.

Glad the appointment went well. That's weird about the shots. Did he say why they don't give them at the office? Anyway, you might want to get her eyes checked out by a pediatric ophthalmologist if they don't straighten out after surgery.

Here a lot of doctors don't do the shots in their offices. I don't know, maybe too much work required to track expiry dates or something? Mine does but only the 2, 4 & 6 month because after that the kids are more likely to remember and associate going to the doctor with something negative. So we've done 3 sets at the doctor, and now 2 sets at the local public health unit and I can honestly say for any future kiddo's I'd have no problem going to the health unit for all of them. At the health unit they do shots all the time - they really know what they're doing and Lukas actually liked the nurses (he is normally terrified of strangers)!

We went and seen an eye dr he wasn't a peds dr but he didn't say anything about her eyes being far apart. Never heard anything until I went to the new dr. And I don't know if I've just read to much info or not enough but I don't recall seeing anything about eyes being set farther apart I thought that most of the time they were closer together

I would think that the eyes being far apart will be corrected with surgery. I'm more concerned about her eyes going in opposite directions. My DD had eye issues even after her surgery, so that is why I'm thinking you should get them checked after surgery. Maybe the neuro can refer you to a good one. Take care!

I have heard of docs not doing in office shots before. These days a lot of insurances (especially in MI) do not pay for shots any more.... or the copay is through the roof. A lot of people go to the doc for a well visit and then to the health department for shots anyway.
As far as the eyes, Andrew had a bit of a lazy eye which has corrected itself post op. The eye orbits were moved in surgery and the muscles needed to strengthen in the eyes. They did this all on their own. The position of the orbits can be affected by the sutures closing. If they need to be corrected they do it during surgery. Sometimes there is nothing really wrong other than a lazy muscle or two.
