Saethre-Chotzen-eye surgery

Hello,
My son, Gavin has S-C & one of his eyes is visually higher than the other.
He had surgery for tosis because the eyelids were bearing weight on his eyes causing a stigmatism. Recently, he finally cooperated for an eye exam and got prescription glasses for stigmatism & slight nearsightedness. He's wearing the glasses everyday-to my huge surprise. When we went for our first recheck yesterday, I was told that he eyes are not working together at all. He can see out of both eyes, just not using them together. The opthamologist is recommending surgery where they would actually move his eyes-one eye up & the other down, so they will be more aligned. Has anyone heard of this surgery???

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you are describing strabismus surgery. They shorten one of the eye muscles so that the eyes will stay straight. Here's a website that describes strabismus. http://www.strabismus.org/

If that is what Gavin has, the surgery is not as bad as for cranio. It's usually out patient, and the recovery is very fast. Hope this helps.
