Hey guys, I'm just trying to gather info. Anyone had their surgery done at a Kaiser or at Loma Linda in Cali...or know of anyone who has??

    Thanks!

I can't help you with any info on Loma Linda but I do know that the plastic surgeon we met with at UCLA does surgery for Kaiser patients at Kaiser West in LA. We don't have kaiser so I have no experience there but I guess that must mean he's considered in-network for cranio-facial cases with Kaiser. His name is Dr. James Bradley.

We had a bit of an annoying experience getting an appointment through his assistant so we ended up getting a second opinion cause there was no way I was waiting 6 weeks to get CT scan results, but when we did meet with him I liked him a lot.

    Briefly misdiagnosed with Craniosynostosis
Final diagnosis of plagiocephaly with 12mm of cranial vault asymmetry and a scaphocephalic head shape, probably from in-utero molding.

Actually, that helps tons because that's exactly where they want to send us (Kaiser in West LA). Now that you mention it, they did tell us that they sent over doctors from UCLA for the proceedures...but they told us that it was just students who observed. Hmmm. I'll have to dig a bit deeper. Thank you!

Oh good. That sounds promising. He has an excellent reputation. He has trained with Dr. Kowomoto at UCLA who is a pioneer in this type of surgery.

If you do meet with him I'll give you one small warning. He looks like he should be a character on Grey's Anatomy, not a real doctor. The thick wavy hair and piercing blue eyes...he's not even my type but it was all a little distracting.

lol! Thanks for the warning, I noticed that when I followed the link you posted.

Actually, now I'm not sure if we'll be seeing him or Dr Wexler...I think it's Wexler. Either way, I'm getting more comfortable with Kaiser West Hollywood - I've found two other families who have had their surgeries there. My only concern now is that they won't have enough blood on hand for her if it's not done at a major medical center. I know that sounds stupid and I should trust that they know what they are doing and that they will have more than enough on hand for any senario...but, that's what I'm obsessing on. =)

    Angela,
I don't know if you received my post regarding Kaiser in West LA with Dr. Wexler. Dr. Kawamoto comes over from UCLA for most, if not all of these surgeries. My son's surgery was more complex and it was great knowing that Dr. Kawamoto was there for it. Dr. Wexler is real nice. His nurse Pam H. in his office is super nice and will answer any questions you have.
Good luck and keep us posted how things go on the 8th.
