New to Cranio Kids, Metopic Baby girl

Hi there, my name is Heather and i am a new member to your wonderful group. I have a baby girl named Hadley. She born on March 4, 2012, that has just been diagnosed as a Metopic Cranio kid, along with denting above her eyebrows. She has her surgery set for June 26,2012. This is all new to us,and have a few questions. I was wondering if anybody could help me with.We Live in Fort McMurray AB Canada, and her surgery is being done at the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton AB.Is there anybody on here from around the area, or even had there surgery done there. Our doctor recommended doing the first surgery to fix the closed sutures, but to wait to fix the denting of the eyebrows until she is around the age of three. Is this normal. Or have you had this surgery all in one? Hadley is breast feed, will i be able to breast feed her after surgery, or will the discomfort of laying flat bother her? How long does it take for the swelling to be completely gone? Normal healing time?

    Welcome to CK. I am a metopic mom as well. My Jack had his surgery at 6 months old, he is now 4 months post op. They did it all at once, they put plates and screws in to re-build his forehead. It got rid of the pinching in by the eyebrows. They encourage breast feeding so you shouldn't have to worry about that. They want your baby to be as comfortable as she can be. Jack is still swollen, just not as noticeable. We were told to expect swelling to take up to 2 years to be totally gone. But the majority of it gone by 6 months after surgery. Jack's eyes never swelled shut, he had a drain tube that went along above his eyebrows and he also wore a turban.     Hi there - I am a metopic / trig mom too. Kenny had his surgery at 6 months and I was breastfeeding as well. It was tough because he was hooked with a hundred wires the first day or two, but he did breastfeed a little bit. I also pumped just in case he would rather have a bottle - he really didn't eat much the first two days of recovery because on day 1 he was on morphine. But the surgery went well and I have no regrets. You can check out my albums under my name, he recovered so well and so quickly. We only had one surgery, so not sure about the 2nd one. He was back to his smiling self in about 2-3 weeks, no helmet was needed, just a big scar for quite a few months, but once their hair grows in you can't even tell.
