This may be a silly question, but I want to know what kind of clothing Gavin can wear while he has a helmet on?
He spits up A LOT so we change him about 3-4 times day some days. I can't see taking the helmet on and off every time (or do you?), and with summer coming up I have no idea what he can wear (since most summer stuff is over the head onesies, not button-up or zip-up stuff). I was thinking of buying some button-up sleepers and then hemming them at the arms and legs to be short-sleeved/shorts outfits.

They make GREAT kamono style shirts for babies that snap in the front which would be great for Gavin and his helmet.

Here's an example: http://www.target.com/Studio-Target-Sleeve-Kimono-Bodysuit/dp/B001Q9J8IO/sr=1-5/qid=1240797889/ref=sr_1_5/178-2675745-4096510?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&index=target&field-browse=1038590&rh=k%3Akimono&page=1

I had a ton of them for Ian when he was a baby. I found them in white too and they cross in the front and snap.

Not silly at all!! I was wondering the same thing until just yesterday. We are on day 5 of helmet therapy now and Sophie's in the helmet 8 hours at a time with just one hour off in between. I had no idea when I was going to dress her or how to change her shirt if she needed it. But her shirts (onesies) pull right over the helmet just like they pull over their heads. I just give them a little extra stretch at the neck before pulling them on and I haven't found anything that won't go over the helmet yet. She even went to a birthday parth this weekend in a denim dress that I could pull over the helmet.

Erin....you will have to make a little trip to the USA and hit Carters! I go to the outlets in Tilton NH...and I love the one-zies from Carters that snap up the front. Walmart in Canada does not carry Carter's/Child of Mine stuff unfortunately....I have tried. Those komonos from Target are so adorable....maybe you can mail order form there?

Oh, how I wish they had a Target in Canada!

Janet, I don't know if OshKosh and Carters are the same, I do know that there is a great Carter's outlet about 1 hour across the border (Niagara Falls border).

Monica- I was planning on heading there sometime soon, I just need to get Gavin a passport (not going to happen before surgery I don't think!).

you'll get pretty good at getting helmet on and off quickly when you need to. We didn't wear a lot of t-shirts during Jackson's helmet stint, but we would normally get him dressed for the day in the morning and then rely on bibs a lot. onsies with stretchy neck holes worked fine too. his head won't be so gargantuan that most items won't stretch... button down works well too, but i had a lot of hand me downs and just had to find what worked.

For the most part we just took Avery's helmet off for changes but it was only twice daily, morning and night, as we were past the spitting up stage.

I bought a bunch of snap up things... and I never used them after like day 2. The stretch neck onesies worked fine, as did the ones that have like 2 snaps on the shoulder. There was like 1 or 2 things I had that had to have the helmet removed for and that's it out of Jocelyn's HUGE wardrobe.

We have continued to use the button-up Carter's onesies. Maybe it was Colin's giant head to begin with, but it was difficult to get even the ones with buttons on the shoulder to work. Plus, I did not want to ask the daycare to take him out of his helmet, so we've managed to find just enough clothes to get through each season. I am always on the lookout for button-up onesies, so just keep your radar on when shopping. Even gerber had some. I did not like the kimonos because his shirt was always sliding up and showing off his belly or getting bunched up under his arms. Good luck! I think clothes for helmets is a great business opportunity for someone. Lots of kids in helmets these days.

I was actually thinking of doing up some shirts with "cutest little helmet head" and such on them. I was looking for some online, but couldn't find any!
We are heading to the States in a few weeks to see what we can find (since clothing and bumbo's and all that is so much cheaper there!).
