Take a look at this site:

www.caringbridge.com It's a website that you can create your own page on to update family/friends if your child is in the hospital or whatnot.....It's a free site and apparantly pretty simple to update.....I haven't researched it alot...someone who is having surgery today told me that they would be updating this spot instead of calling everyone with updates.....great idea for when your at the hospital!

I love the caringbridge website. A lot of families at the hospitals where I live use this site for updates to family and friends. Very neat!

We used a different one (Care Pages) when Bryson had surgery last March, and it was a really nice thing to have! I used one of the programs on my computer to make up "business cards" with a note about the site and the address to Bryson's page, and he handed them out to his teachers, a few friends, people at his church, etc. I sent them to some family members who are online, as well. I loved being able to update everyone at once instead of having to field a dozen phone calls.

One note - I don't know if guests visiting CaringBridge have to create a free account in order to view the page, or not, but they did at Care Pages. To save everyone some trouble, I created a generic log-in name (ie: FamilyFriend) and password (ie: 12345) that they could all use instead of each having to go through the sign up process. It saved time and hassle for everyone, and whenever they left a personal message for Bryson, they just signed their name at the bottom so we'd know who it was from. I also put that info on the 'business card' I gave them - that way they had all the info there together and could slip it in their wallet or tape it to the edge of the computer.
