hello everyone,
well, its all over - and many thanks to your prayers and thoughts. i took a while to write bc my computer was down when i got home from the hospital, and then the little one really wasnt sleeping well - so neither was i !
ok, so here it goes - the wait from the time we got to the hospital to the time i carried him into the operating room was 4 hours! once i carried him in, i watched them give him the anasthesia (dont have the energy to spell that word correctly) and then my husband and i grabbed a bite (the least conversational meal we ever had in the 13 years weve known eachother) and then to my surprise, we both fell asleep in the waiting room! i had just grabbed a coffee when the dr came out to tell us it all went well. my son had the extended vertex craniotomy done for his sagittal. we were grateful he was young enough not to need the PI type. He looked so cute all wrapped up in the bandages, and the first thought that came to my mind when i first saw him was that he was my brave little boy, and i just kept watching his eyes and listening to his soft, weak cry.
i stayed with him overnight into the next morning, and of course he got up alot - and the chair i tried to sleep in kept on folding up on me! but that morning, to my delight, he woke up, rolled right over on his stomach like he always does, and had a beautiful smile on his face. it was the cutest thing to see - iv's, bandages and all, he was happy, but just for a few seconds until he realized he wasnt comfortable! i enjoyed it notheless, and i was so relieved to see him smile.
he was released that day from the hospital, and is now home to recover.
he did have trouble keeping his formula and food down, but he is doing ok now. the sleep could be better, but i am sure everytime he rolls over to move positions, the discomfort must wake him up. other than that, he is almost back to the old routine, and like you all said, they sure do bounce back fast! Thanks again for the support, i thought you would all appreciate my story. i will keep posting and reading on this message board, bc like you all, this will always be a part of my life.
