Hello, everyone! I'm Melissa, and I am the mother of two sons - Bryson and Zack.
Bryson is 14 and was born with Pfeiffer Syndrome, a syndromic form of craniosynostosis. His was a severe case (all sutures closed fully at birth), and he had his first operation at 3 weeks old (a frontal craniectomy). He has now had 27 operations, his most recent being a Chiari Decompression last March. He doesn't let this get him down, though, and doesn't feel sorry for himself. He is pretty outgoing, likes to hang out with his friends, skateboards, plays football and basketball with his friends, swims, pretty much whatever he wants to do. We are hopefully looking at a couple of surgery-free years, with the next planned operation being when he's 16-17 years old.
Zack is 11 and was born with no medical conditions (though he has developed asthma, like me, but it's not bad - just mild).
As for me, I'm a SAHM, and I love gardening, photography, reading, etc. I am a member of three different craniofacial groups - the Apert ListServe, which is my 'home'; CAPPS; and now here. I look forward to meeting those that I don't already know here...
