What kind of paint did you all use for the helmet? Emma will hopefully get her helmet on Wednesday (if not the following Monday) and I want to get it painted while she is in it at first for the short periods of time (more drying time). Anyway, any help would be great!!!

I see no ones answered and I don't have any experience with the whole helmet as we didn't go that route, but from what I've gathered here the paint doesn't seem to work all that well. It seems as though more helmets are decorated with decals and stickers that get changed often. I've wondered if spray paint might work on them though as it's a bit more flexible, but the smell is kinda iky...
I'm sure someone with helmet experience will chime in soon... Can't wait to see what it looks like when you're all done gussying it up!

What type of helmet are you recieving? Hayden's first 2 helmets were docbands and they recommended us not to paint them, but they gave us instructions of what to use to decorate with decals. We used craft decals and used clear fingernail polish over them so they would stay on.
With his new helmet, the starband, we were able to chose a design before they made it. I still want to put his name on it though. People seem to strike up a conversation more rather than just stare if you have it decorated.
Happy helmet decorating :)

they told use we could do anything to our helmets, we painted one of them with spray paint and it worked wonderful, we had to touch it up every now and then and replace the pads and velcro when we painted but it was no big deal. you can pm if you want

I think those paint pens that you can get at craft stores like Michaels would work well (like if you wanted to write a name or make a motif such as stars, hearts, or flowers). It needs to be an enamel or oil-based paint for it to stick to plastic.

We like Amy used spray paint. It worked out well. I can't wait to see what her helmet looks like.

we started with a blue base (it was made blue) and then we always just used plastic scrapbooking stickers
