My 10 week old grandson has been diagnosed with single suture cradiosynostis. They have talked to people in Dallas and Atlanta, will get faster attention in Dallas, but since they live in Mobile, Atlanta would be better for them. They have an appointment on October 3, but are very anxious. Any advice about where any of you have had surgery? Thanks.

Janet- I just wanted to say Welcome! I'm glad you've found us. I moved your post- to make it it's own- so hopefully it will get more attention!
I am in Oregon, so I can't help alot with your area, but I wanted to say- there will be alot of waiting on this Cranio journey. If they can meet w/ both, I would recommend they do- sometimes just meeting the surgeon, you get a better comfort level with one over the other, or like their treatment method better. Gather as many questions as you can before the appointment- ask away- a good NS will answer w/o hesitation and will welcome the questions. Do you know which suture is fused?

:welcome and let me say all the research you can get your hands on helps so you are informed and ready. I agree with the list I did that with Matthew so all of the concerns were met. I am sorry as for were to go because we are in New York but the choice should be were the family feels most comforted and confident about don't just choose the first place you go to.:icon_mrgr Good luck and again welcome.

Hi Janet,
I want to welcome you as well. You found the right place, these parents have been thru it all. It is very good that yoursdoctors have diagnosed your grandson this early. My son was also diagnosed early but will not have surgery until january, some sutures do not require emergency surgery, so they will wait until the baby gets a little bigger and stronger, my son will be 8 months when his surgery takes place-that's why jennifer mentioned alot of waiting. If you could look into the place in birmingham that katie listed, these places deal exclusively with these special children. This is what they do everyday!!! Many huggs to your family and welcome to ours!!

:welcome I am glad you have found this web site. It has been the biggest help to me through the journey. My daughter Miriam is getting ready to have surgery in October.
Also, I want to say welcome to the waiting game. There are so many unknown until you get the surgery done. I hope you find your answers.
Best wishes to you and your family.
