Hi Guys,
Just wondering about recovery when you came home. I am unfortunately a full time working mom. frankie is in a daycare when I am at work. the surgeon said he will not be able to go back for some time after due to exposure to the other childrens he does not want to put him at greater risk of infection...If any of you were working moms how long after surgery did you stay home?? Did you need other assistance in the beginning???
Thanks!:new

Hi Jackie! I wasn't working at the time of Emily's surgery, but I can tell you that by 1 week post-op she was back to her cute little self. If at all possible I would try to keep him out of daycare for 2 weeks....How old will he be at the time of surgery? I would also prep the day care providers and see what they think also.....

I actually got laid off from work right after Dillon was born so I wasn't working either. Dillon spent five days in the hospital, and after that plus a little over a week at home he was getting back to himself. Even once he was feeling better though, there was still some bruising, swelling, and the incision needed a lot more healing. If you can, I'd say try to get at least three weeks off work (FMLA maybe?) from surgery day or see if someone can come in to your home to watch him. It really depends on the individual child and how comfotable the day care would be. Hopefully he is one of our amazingly fast super healing cranio kids :hugg

We were told Callum would need to stay out of daycare for 3 weeks after surgery. Our NS said that after three weeks the wound would be healed sufficiently that there would be little chance of infection.

thanks everyone! I believe I have 3 weeks left family leave from maternity leave I can still take. Then maybe I can find someone to watch him for another week or 2 just to be sure..........

My neighbor watches my daughter some for me. She actually had said, before surgery, that she would not be comfortable watching Sylvie until atleast 3 months post op. After surgery, when she saw how "norma" Sylvie was acting she did keep her for me 2 weeks post op for a couple of hours. It was a couple months before Sylvia went to childcare at church. I was just not comfortable. You will be amazed how well she does and how quickly you will return to "normal"......whatever normal is these days LOLOL!
