surgery went great

Aside from a very long wait on Monday morning, Isaac's surgery went so well. It was definitely the longest day of my life, but the nurses and surgeons kept us well updated. Isaac was a real trooper. He was really swollen the 1st and 2nd day post-op, but both eyes were open by the late afternoon of post -op day 2. They sent us home late in day three and he has done well, aside from a bit of a fever on Sunday. I'm so thankful for all of the prayers and well wishes from you all. I know God watched over Isaac and comforted us as well. My husband is going to try to post some pics in the next few days. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH:wink

I am SOO happy to hear all went well. You have been in my thoughts and prayers...it is the longest day isn't it. The feeling you get when you hand them over is by far the WORST feeling in the world. How long was the surgery and at what time? Thank goodness the hardest part is over. Don't you feel like you can handle anything now that the surgery is done. I cant wait to see the photo's. Please let us know if you need anything!!

Get better fast Isaac - we are soo proud of you!!!

Yeah! I'm glad that all went well. Did you feel a large 'weight' lift off your shoulders once they said he was okay.....I can still remember that feeling.

Woohoo wonderful news. It does feel really great to be done and over with doesn't it. The anticipation nearly killed me. I am so happy you are your family can relax now and watch him heal.

Good news Leeanne, it is hard isn't it?? But the worst part is behind you now, it'll all be easy from here compared to the stress you felt before!! Bless the little guy and give him a big wet droolie smoocheroo from Doodles!!!

Such a HUGE relief!!! My husband walked him back at around 1200, after getting to the hospital at 0730. I felt so bad for Isaac, he hadn't eaten since 0130, and it was such a long wait. But he did so well, only got cranky a little, so we strolled him into sleep at around 1030. Again, I am so lucky to work with the people who cared for him. That truly was and is a blessing. They really took great care of him, and us. Really kept us updated. The anesthesiologist even called as they were leaving the OR, to let us wait outside of the ICU door to see him briefly. He looked great, even had his eyes open for a moment. Of course, I had picked that moment to send my husband to the car for the pacifier. He was a little miffed that he missed him. Oops!!
Everyone was sooo right about these little guys. Isaac has really bounced back very quickly, acts like it never happened. Of course, I'm paranoid that he is going to fall and whack his head. I almost wish that he did have to wear a helmet for a while. Thank you all again for the prayers, it is great to be on the other side. And for those of you still waiting, I can now say that it truly will be alright, and your little ones WILL amaze you.
