Today we had Miriam's eye appointment. This one went a lot better. The doctor took the time to explain thing better to us. She still tends to look to the left more. Her tortcollis isn't helping either. She will have to have her eyes patched for the next 6 weeks, every other day except for Sundays. We have to alternate eyes every other day too. Well, tonight we tried it and she HATES!!!! it. She cried the whole 2 hours. Luckily we only have to do it for 2 hours a day.
He also told us just to plan on having eye muscle surgery 6 weeks after her cranio surgery. He is pretty sure she will at least need one if not more. But the good thing is that it is all out-patient and doesn't seem to be to major.
I took at picture of her cute eye patches for all of you. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for the support.

No parent wants to hear that their child will need another surgery, but I am glad that you have found a proactive eye Dr that you can feel confident in. I don't see the picture of her with the eye patch on, I don't think it attached correctly? I want to see that little cutie! :adore

I'm glad the appointment went well. I'm sorry the patches make her cry! Did the doctor think the torticollis was due to the eyes or was it a neck muscle? It her neck muscle is tight, there are some stretches you can do w/ her that will help (if you go to a physical therapist, they will do them with her- I found some online that were the same thing!) You might want to try it, it won't hurt?
I can't see the picture??? I would love to see it!

:doh I forgot to reply about the torticollis! When Dillon was diagnosed with it, one of the first things they had us do was get his eyes checked. If there is an eyemuscle problem, a child may see things a little crooked, so they tilt their head in the direction they see things. If the eye patches work, she may start straightening her head out on her own.
And like Jennifer said, it couldn't hurt to try the home stretches for it. There was a really good link with some of the stretches posted once on the old board, I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks for the replies. Her doctor did seem to think the torticollis was due to the eyes, and tonight when I patched her right eye she seemed to not tilt as much. She couldn't see unless she lifted her head. I was excited to see that happen. I will try to put a picture on. Sorry.
