Here he is! He did so great today at his fitting. So far it doesn't seem to bother him too much at all. I'm ready to decorate!!

I think babies are so cute in their little helmets. I like the design. Hope he adjusts to it well.

Oh my gosh! He's so freaking cute. Can't wait to see how you decorate! How long does he have to wear it?
I don't know if this sounds kind of twisted.. But I almost with my metopic Blakie could wear a helmet post-surgery. I know it's just a little bit of padding.. but it would really give me a little bit of extra piece when he starts bumping his head post-op..

I LOVE that it is blue. I don't think I've seen a colored one yet. Very cool! I'm glad he seems to be adjusting well - I wish we could all be as adaptable as these kiddos are. They're so great!!!!
Becky - I also wished I had a helmet to protect Florence post-op. I don't know how the helmet-wearers feel, but I don't think it's that twisted.

there are mixed feelings for me as far as the helmet goes... i'm very glad he has it for safety's sakes. there is a lot of relief built into it, but in the same breath it's HARD! I don't understand how a parent could use one of these for a reason that wasn't truly necessary.
Now saying that, much of the stress of this could very well be that I'm totally exhausted!! We're at the tip of the roller coater and it seeme like we've crossed the hard part of the journey, but now we're about the come flying down the other side... my emotions are haywire!! We are ramping him up wearing it, so taking it on and off is a chore... it's hot and bulky and i miss my baby's head so much. i've cried a lot in the past few days.
I realized yesterday that all the things that have to do with his head that comfort him (kisses, snuggles, rubs) were also comforting me. I'm going to have to get creative and find new ways for mommy baby bonding!
Thanks for the support. Love you guys!

Oh Kerre, I know it must be rough. Emotions are high right now and you are exhausted. I promise it will get easier! Hang in there.
We love ya!

Aww, Kerre, I am sorry it is rough right now. I don't have any experience with your situation, but I imagine things will get easier. I hope that it gets easier for you soon. Just make sure you kiss his head a whole bunch when you have it off. I have dealt with haywire emotions though and when I am like that, I just have to remind myself that it will get better, every day is not like this. I also have to remind myself not to make any decisions when I am like that. I have to remind myself of that when Kepler is throwing a 2 year old tantrum and Keeson is screaming to be fed...not the time to decide, "Should we have a 3rd child?" :o)
He does look adorable in it though. I love the picture with him holding his feet. I love when they start doing that!
Take care.

thanks guys... today was a little easier. He's so good in the helmet... it doesn't really bug him too much, but he does seem to get tired faster in it, therefore a bit more cranky... but he's such a trooper. I'm really proud of his attitude as we just keep messing with him and throwing off his schedule!
I fed him once in it today and it was hard but we managed... i know each day will get a little easier... i still can't imagine that in a week we'll be up to 23 hours a day...
I'm hoping to get to a scrapbooking store this week to get some stickers!! fun fun!

Kerre he looks SOOOO adorable! I would mark out some helmet-free cuddle time every day to get your "head fix" :P Azia and I do eskimo kisses which she loves and that would work with a helmet! LOL

He is so adorable!
I totally relate to that missing head snuggles. Going in for a kiss and getting a face full of plastic is never fun. Since his head isn't so accessible the poor kid gets a million face and mouth kisses every day. And we always make sure to enjoy our one hour of post bath helmet free time with plenty of hugs and head kisses.
Hang in there. In a few weeks you won't even think about it.

OK, adorable! We just got ours yesterday too! It is the same color but we have a full helmet. We don't have the cut-out sides. I am glad he is doing well with it!
