Decorating Helmet

My son will be getting his band/helmet in about a week and I was wondering the best options for decorating... I'd like to paint it... is there anything special that we need to do to it before painting? is there a right and wrong tpye of paint to use?? Thanks for the help!

We decided against painting because I'm not very artistic and I was afraid I would do a terrible job and be stuck with it. lol. So we chose stickers. I like the stickers because we can change them every week or two as well. If you decide on stickers try ot get the plastic ones, not the paper backed ones. Those ones are harder to get off. The plastic ones peal right off and then I use a little goo gone to get the sticky residue off.

We have done a rocket ship theme and we have dinosaurs on his helmet now. And we always put his name on it because a. It's cute! and b. I have found it makes people feel more comfortable asking about it rather than just staring!

Good luck with everything. do you know what type of helmet he's getting? Is it the full version, or one for the partially open ones? at your son's age he should have no trouble adjusting to it as long as it is fitted well.
