Has anyone continued on with helmet therapy after the first birthday and still had significant growth and improvement?

We were told our son could wear his helmet until about 18 months old, but we should actually finish right around his first birthday. Our surgeon said the most growth and improvement is before a year and then minor growth & improvement between 1 year & 18 months. This is a post op helmet for a strip craniectomy. What type of helmet therapy are you doing?

I don't think we've met before. Neylana is beautiful! I saw in one of your other posts that she was treated endoscopically for unicoronal. We were told that our daughter would need her helmet until she is about 1 but it looks like she'll be done in September so she'll be about 11 months old at that time. I have heard that with some cases they like to go longer not because there will be a significant change in shape (although there may be some) but because it will help maintain the shape that has already been achieved. In some cases a small amount of regression is expected so the longer the shape is maintained the better the skull bones "hold" for lack of a better word. Of course this is just my understanding and no substitute for the wisdom of your cranio team. There may be other reasons for extended helmet time as well...what do your doctors say?
