Yes. He is awesome.

Dr. Proctor checked Jakes sutures and measurements - Jake is doing GREAT. He said that the measurements are just below "normal" range and that his sutures/ridges are all perfect.

He also reassured me not to stress about the helmet time - that if Jake needs a break, or it's moving a lot, give him a break as much as needed. He said it would all come together with time. AWESOME. He also said that movement is totally normal, since we can't "bolt it to his head", and that is another thing that will come with time ... he said there is no need for immediate action (i.e. having the helmet adjusted today) but that we could wait until friday when we have our helmet appt anyway.

I am so so so happy and relieved. It does not change the situation, as far as the helmet shifting and Jake being miserable in it - but it clears my mind of the guilt for the times he has it off. I was so surprised by his reaction and response ... he IS SO AWESOME. My brave little boy - doing so great ... phew.

So now I will just take it minute to minute and do what I need to do, guilt free. :elmo

Thanks for being here for me, everyone! I really reallyy appreciate it.

glad things went well. I hope your little Jake gets used to the helmet soon. Too bad he is so young...you can bribe an older kid into anything!! Hee Hee!

Christine that is great news. Isn't the guilt of a momma a hard thing to deal with. Now you don't have to worry about that. Glad to hear the good update.

How is Jake doing with his helmet these days? Has it gotten any easier?

Thanks so much for asking!

We were still having problems and Jake's helmet time was estimating 16 hours or less a day. The helmet would turn on him and - oh - he would scream! So when that happened, we would take it off for a good hour or two (if not more).

The good news? Jake got a new helmet yesterday (same design - Mike, the guy who designed it, who Carrie has wrote about, supervised Jake's fitting). Jake is doing really well!!! It FITS so it's not twisting on him and so far no sore spots or anything. Jake has already had his helmet on more in the past two days than probably all of the last week ...

It's funny, though, he has come up with this little angry yell and puts his little fists up to the helmet to take it off ... very cute. It seems just to be in the carseat when this has happened (and it's quick - not like he's in pain - just that he's pissed off). I think I will have to think outside the box on this one ...

I redecorated the new helmet and will put up pics tomorrow!

That's great that the new one seems to fit better!

The car seat is the only time that the helmet seems to really bother patrick. It seemed worse in the infant car seat, between the thickness of the helmet and his long head shape, it pushed his head forward a lot and he couldn't look around or move freely with it. When we switched to the bigger convertible car seat it seemed a bit better. But honestly, we just take it off in the car for longer rides. Especially since it is so hot out and the car is usually roasting when we get in.

And yes, post pictures when you can. He's so cute.

Hey, I'm so glad you were able to get in with Mike. I think he has a better handle on the fit since he designed it...and he's a total perfectionist! Just the type of person you want, when your baby is being fitted for a helmet.

I'm so glad things are going better for Jake and that he's more comfortable!!!
