Jakey got his helmet today - cutest damn thing I have ever seen. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. I am concerned about they way it fits in a cple areas, but they told me that's what the breaking in process is all about - to catch problems areas as well as easing the skin into it. We have another appt next Thursday to tweak problem areas ... but they assured me, if I see any red areas when I take the helmet off - call them right away and we can have it fixed pronto. AWESOME!

Here's cutie Jakey in his helmet for the first time

awww he is so cute! Our son has the other helmet. It only bothered him for about a week. They all look like they are going into space. We had a little boy comment on Drevan's helmet at the 4th of July parade. He said daddy look at him he's going into space! You think the worst but they turn out so darn cute!

Awww...he is so darn adorable! I love a kid in a helmet!

It only took patrick one day to adjust to his really. We started out with 23 hours a day right away. The only place it bothers him is in the car seat. for some reason he always seems uncomfortable there so we usually take it off for longer rides.

What a cutie pie he is!

Helmet Day 1 update -

One hour on/on hour off - no naps or bedtime

Jake did really well! I noticed his head gets "stuck" if he turns to one side (since the sides are open with this new sagittal helmet design), which I am sure he will find that strength in no time ... also, I know everyone says they get hot under there, but I was not prepared for SO HOT! The poor guy was dripping sweat everytime I took it off. The orthotists told me to put lots of corn starch/baby powder on his head/helmet, but I don't feel comfortable yet since his incisions are still open. He has long hair as well (for a 3 month old), so hubby and I are talking about a buzz cut - ALREADY! It makes me very very sad. I thought he had such a good headstart on that cute baby shag hairdo ... If it makes him just a bit more comfortable, though, than whatever needs to be done.

Other than that - he was a trooper! We put stickers on today as well, I will have pictures tomorrow - today was a bit crazy. We also decorated Maggie's bike helmet (she still won't wear it, though!). Tomorrow is 2-3 hours on, 1 hour off ... no naps or bedtime. I am still not sure how I will pull that off since the kid loves his sleep and tends to take catnaps rather than long naps? He will just have to try to nap with it, I guess?

He has such a cute FACE!!! That look is precious. I love the helmet, can't wait to see the stickers. It's great that he's taking to it well. Sorry about all the sweating...sucks to have to wear it in the summer... You'll have to keep us posted on his progress. Those pictures are always SO amazing!! Yay, Jake!! Way to go buddy!

he looks adorable. He does nned some decoration, though!!

Now that I think about it...I think ALL little boys should be put in helmets until the age of 5.....they hit their heads into everything!!! Hee hee! I'm getting a helmet for each of my 3 boys!!! (J/K!)

That's good that they will at least let you put something to soak up the sweat. With the helmet we have we aren't allowed to put anything on it. That sounds like the same sched. we had with his helmet. Are you happy with the results?

What a cool helmet...can't wait to see it decorated. I'll be praying Jake adjusts well to the full time schedule.
