Hey guys,
I hope everyone is doing ok I ve been doing alot better these days morning sickness and thats and away now thank god lol. A couple of weeks ago I was tested for down syndrome and spina bifida am a low risk for downs but slightly high for spina bifida well they said am just over the average mark for it, so I ve to go in for a scan on tuesday to see if everything is ok. I was just wondering if anyon eles had this ? see I ve been thinking that maybe its picking up on saether choltzen I am not sure but was wondering about that. Of course my midwife said I should tn worry cus sometime this happens when a women was bleeding a little in the beggining of the pregnancy which I was so it might just be nothing but its the not knowing. I was also wondering has anyone had amniocentesis done ? cus well it looks like I will have to have that done I think.

I was advised to have an amnio when Beths ultrasound showed concerns but we didnt go through with it for numerous reasons- and though the decision came with alot of drama it was for the best in our case.

I actually declined the testing because I've seen this happen to so many people. Anyone I know who had abnormal results had perfect babies. As far as I know, it's not possible to pick up SCS in utero. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to let yourself get too worried. :hugg

I think the only way to detect SCS in utero would be to do an amnio and send the fluid in for testing. I've never had an amnio. Good luck and take care.

Thanks guys am just worried cus I dont really know what to do I guess the desicion will be made on tuesday depending on my ultra sound, I just know if it the worst like downs or spina bifida I coluld nt cope as a parent please dont take me the wrong on that I just could nt see my child like that going through what people with that sometimes have too I know of course that their is people with that problem that lead normal lives but I just dont know how I would cope with something that severe. I guess I will just wait and see what they come bk with cus more than likely it could be nothing but have to wait and see.

i didnt even know you were pg! so congrats! I just had the downs testing a few weeks ago. I actually did a thread on it, because the paperwork states in can pick up other chromosal syndromes, but there's no documentation of it. My doc advised me of an amnio, but as far as cranio, it's not important to me. They account several factors into the downs testing, and it's not completely accurate. Just wait until the u/s. I completely understand your fears though. good luck!
