Aidan was born on April 16, 2007. He was a big, handsome boy weighing 9lbs8oz. He was born with jaundice, but they let us leave the hospital after 3 days as long as we kept him on a bed and we had to have a nurse come out and check him everyday for about two weeks after coming home.
The nurse, who came out to the house, noticed that he had a bump on the back of his head. The nurse thought his head would eventually round out but she asked us to let the pediatrician know about it.
When we met with the pediatrician they set us up an appointment to get a CT scan and meet with a neurosurgeon.
When Aidan was 2 months old we found out that his sagittal suture had closed prematurely and he had something called craniosynostosis. We met several more times over several months with the neorosurgeon and then we went and met with a craniofacial surgeon.
We are scheduled to have surgery for our baby on April 9, 2008. We are very excited, but very scared at the same time.
We will keep everyone updated on the progress as we continue our journey with our baby.
