Aidan was born on April 16, 2007. He was a big, handsome boy weighing 9lbs8oz. He was born with jaundice, but they let us leave the hospital after 3 days as long as we kept him on a bed and we had to have a nurse come out and check him everyday for about two weeks after coming home.
The nurse, who came out to the house, noticed that he had a bump on the back of his head. The nurse thought his head would eventually round out but she asked us to let the pediatrician know about it.
When we met with the pediatrician they set us up an appointment to get a CT scan and meet with a neurosurgeon.
When Aidan was 2 months old we found out that his sagittal suture had closed prematurely and he had something called craniosynostosis. We met several more times over several months with the neorosurgeon and then we went and met with a craniofacial surgeon.
We are scheduled to have surgery for our baby on April 9, 2008. We are very excited, but very scared at the same time.
We will keep everyone updated on the progress as we continue our journey with our baby.

Hello there - Just wanted to welcome you to the boards. My boy Patrick (3) is having corrective surgery in April too - he is metopic and is scheduled for surgery on April 24th in Oxford, England. Contemplating surgery on our infants can be pretty tough. You have found a great website here for help and information - not to mention friendship and cyberhugs on those days when you really need em!!

HI there and welcome! You have found such a great group of people! My son was a metopic baby and had surgery about 5 months ago. I hope you find some comfort in having a network of other cranio moms and dads out there, they have been a huge support to me. I know it's scary but your little guy will do great!

Thank you for making us feel so welcome. We have Aidan's pre-op on April 2nd at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Scottish Rite.
It makes me feel better knowing that there are people out there that have been through something similar and that are willing to share thier stories.
I am going to make sure I take lots of notes and picture so that I might be able to help someone just like all of you are helping us through it.
