Cam's surgery went well yesterday. They took him at 7:45am and got finished up at 11:30. It took them an hour longer than usual to get the IV's in and so far I've counted at least 30 needle marks where they tried! Long day yesterday....he ate 2 ozs of breastmilk about 4 hrs after surgery then at 3am he had some more then threw it all up. Got really upset so they gave him some morphine. They want him to wake up a bit more, and his counts are really low...he's a hair away from needing a blood transfusion. We're waiting to see what Dr. Fearon's call is. He ended up having an IV in his neck so his head has to be turned to one side which is making that side swell and flatten at the same time. He's the sweetest little cabbage-patch looking baby I've ever seen! I will update more later and post pictures when we get home on Friday hopefully.

Aww, poor guy. 30 marks? Ouch. I sure hope the iv doesn't interfere with his healing. Can they not move it so he can move his little head? Poor guy. Hang in there. You are almost done!

I'm so happy to hear the surgery went well. I hope his counts return to normal quickly. Logan had the same thing with the A-line, took them forever to find it and stab marks all over. Hopefully he continues to heal quickly and you will be on your way home soon!

I'm so happy to hear Cam's surgery went well. Nicholas had marks all over as well (it took them almost an 1 1/2 to get all of the lines in), but the punctures didn't seem to bother him at all. I'm just grateful that they knock them out with gas before trying to put in any lines - I couldn't imagine our babies being awake for that. I'll keep Cam in my thoughts and hope his counts return to normal quickly.

Could they put the IV in his leg? I have heard that it can be done but don't know for sure. With the leg I'm thinking in the thigh area. Don't know how that will affect diapers though.

Aww!! Poor guy! Hopefully, he'll be feeling better soon. Glad to hear surgery went well. I remember seeing only one other mark on Emma near where the IV was and I was wondering what it was. Guess they only pricked her twice! Hang in there, it will get better!!!

Aww, poor little guy. Thank goodness they are "knocked out" before they start poking him. I hope that they can get the IV out of his neck soon. I hope that he starts feeling better and that recovery goes smoothly.
