Hello. Our almost four year just had surgery on Friday for sagittal cranio (CVR). He is wearing a Danmar soft helmet. They sent us home with a stockinette lining (hole cut for head and chin opening.). They told us to use a lining to keep incision clean.
The problem? I think the stockinette bothers him more than the helmet. Do you guys have any solutions? Right now he is wearing a pair of his five year old brothers underoos on his head...
I think we might need better solution, especially with hot sticky summer weather coming up...
Thanks,
Rebecca

I can send him a handmade hat that my mom makes for cranio kids after surgery? Just let me know and I will send it out to you. We have heard of one hospital even recommending our hats to go under helmets :)

We ended up using nothing. Our helmet was too tight to fit anything under it without fear of wrinkles. It didn't seem to bother the incision too much.

Thanks so much for the offer Shelby-
I think we figured out a solution that seems to be working (at least today). My husband went to a sporting goods store and bought out their supply of under armour skull caps meant to be worn under football helmets. Material is wicking and comfortable. a big plus is that he seems to think that the skull cap is cool looking to boot.
So crisis averted and he will no longer be subjected to having to wear underwear on his head :)
