Hi- Had a really bad weekend and I got to wondering if there could be a connection between the neuro surgery I had 38 years ago and the headaches I have been having for about 20 years that are getting worse. I have always thought they were sinus/allergy related. I live in central Illinois, and I had my surgery at the St. Louis childrens hospital when I was 7 months old. My Mother was told it was only cosmetic, but I really question it. All I know is she was told it was premature closure of the sutures. My head was long and narrow. After surgery it closed again too soon and my head is very bumpy and ridgid. I feel for the 19 year old boys on here. I alway knew I was way better off as a girl because I have lots of hair to cover my bumps and my scar was always where I parted my hair. I have two daughters 13 and 10, when they were born I was very addimit at every well baby visit that the Dr. check their soft spot. They would always blow me off and say that it was not hereditary, somethig in wich I learned on this Forum that must not be true! So glad to see there is so much information and support out there now, my Mom sure could have used it 38 years ago in what she refers to as the time she nearly lost her religion!!I Would love to hear from any adults with headaches, I am going to see an ENT next week, but wondering if I should see a Neuro instead?

Thanks for letting me spill for awhile!

Hey Shelby! I am sure some of our Cranio Adults will chime in soon. I just wanted to say welcome to CK! Oh, also, one of our Amins is a cranio adult (Jenny), you could also consider sending her a pM on here!

Hi Shelby,

Welcome to CK! I'm sorry to hear you are having migranes. I think it would be a good idea to rule out any neuro issues as you mentioned.

It sounds like you had sagittal craniosynostosis if your head was long and narrow. My son was diagnosed with sagittal at 9 months and had surgery the day before turning 11 months. He will be 4 in March and is doing well. Unfortunately, he may need another surgery. I look forward to learning more about you! Good luck at the ENT appt.

I just went to the dr today for something similar! I am a cranio adult as well and having these wierd head pains.. Well long story short I'm heading for a CT scan.. they want to check for scar tissue build up and some other things, but my dr specifically said that scar tissue buildup can cause it (and he has a cranio kid himself).
