Nicholas did great. We are so happy & relieved!

Hi everyone, just a quick note to let you know Nicholas' surgery went really well today. The surgery was almost canceled because there wasn't an ICU bed for him, but they were able to find one at the last minute (thank g_d). They took him about 7:30 am (handing him over was so hard...I sobbed for quite a while), and he was finished and in the PICU around 4:15 pm. It was a long day, but luckily the nurse assigned to him did a great job keeping us updated every 30-45 minutes. Nicholas is resting comfortably now. He is a bit swollen, but it's not too bad yet. I took pictures and will share them with everyone once we are home again. I'll also share more details of the day. For now, I just wanted to let everyone know Nicholas is doing great. The NS and plastic surgeon are both very pleased with how things went.

I know many people were thinking of us, and praying for us today - thank you all!

Time to head back to the PICU now...

It feels so good to have made it to the "other side"!! :-)

Congratulations!! You must be so relieved. It is the best feeling when the doctor comes in to the waiting room with a smile and says "everything went as planned".
