Well...it feels like such an adventure so far - and it's only the beginning!

I would like to say thank you (again) to everyone that I have "met" on the forum for giving me such helpful advice and for taking the time to share your cranio stories.

We have FINALLY got an appointment with the NS for Jan. 15th. Her name is Dr. Canady. I'm guessing this is some sort of "confirmation" appt. and hopefully a surgery date will be established.

Does anyone know of any questions to ask that I may forget? I've got quite a long list so far but if anyone has anything to add that they found was helpful please feel free to share. :wink

Looking forward to hearing from you all...

Did you check the list of questions that is on this site? I can't think of any specific questions I asked that were not on the list posted here by Katie.

anyway, just wanted to say good luck with your appointment and let us know how it goes!!

We had our appointment with Dr. Canady (the neurosurgeon) yesterday. I don't think I've ever been so excited in my life!

She said that Devan DOESN'T need surgery. He has a very small case of metopic cranio. and she said that she would NOT perform surgery on him and if it were her child, she would do the same. Dr. Canady said that the risks of the surgery are much worse than the possible benefits. She said that although his plates are closed, the only "damage" is the ridge you see on his forehead. That since there is no triangular shape to his head that there isn't any pressure on his brain/eyes.

Since Devan is already 18 months old and has no sign of any "disability" that the surgery at this point would be cosmetic and she doesn't recommend it...THANK GOD!!!

I do plan on getting a second opinion just to be sure. The Dr. just would not stop stressing over the fact that there's really nothing wrong with him. I guess I had already convinced myself that he had to have surgery and hearing that he didn't was just too good to be true.

Thank you all for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! There really is no tougher job than being a mom - much love and respect to all of you (or those soon to be)!

:cheer Wow!! What great news for you!! Happy for you and your little guy!! Good idea to get a second opinion, but it sounds like you have confidence in what they said.
