Ladies - I live in the midwest where cold winter weather is right around the corner.

For the helmet veterans out there . . . .How do you keep our babies ears warm while they are wearing the helmet? I am concerned about just layering an adult knit hat over it as it may cause more general overheating when I just need to keep the ears warm?

OR - Do they need the extra layer over the helmet? My son's helmet is solid - front and back piece that overlap - no holes or open top.

Your advice/guidance is greatly appreciated!

Hmmm...Cooper's helmet has the holes so I just got a hat with ear flaps that was large enough to fit over the helmet. I don't know about the helmet with no holes....Do they make baby ear muffs? Or could you get a headband and just position it over his ears and around the helmet?

I'll be curious to see if anyone has any other ideas.

Can he wear a cotton knit hat underneath the helmet? If so I can mail you one that we send in the care packages. Let me know.

We did a stocking cap with ear flaps too for Sophie. She was generally very hot in her helmet, even in the winter. So most of the time I would just pull the hood of her coat up if we were outside for more than a few minutes.

I just bought Gabe a hat with ear flaps meant for a bigger toddler and it fits right over his helmet. We were told not to put anything under the helmet (he has the clear helmet with the air holes).
