Piki

While I patiently wait for Piki to go into PICU, I want to update everyone. Last night she seemed as though she sensed something major was about to happen. Piki woke up at 10:30pm, had a bottle, and refused to go back to sleep. Burrowing herself close to me, she curled into a tiny ball and slept in my arms. We awakened at 4:30 this morning and came to the pre-op room at Hopkins. Piki was all smiles while the nurse took her vitals. She was given the green light and entered the OR a little after 7am. Dr. Carson stepped in the waiting room at noon and announced his part of the procedure was done. Plastics was ready to reconstruct, and so we continue to wait for this leg of the journey to wrap. I'm grateful for the endless support I've received on here. This has been an emotional roller coaster ride, but I have learned a great deal about myself and the inner strength us cranio moms have. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. What everyone has said is true - cranio kids are most courageous.
