I'm new here and not sure if I'm even posting in the right area... I am looking for any recommendations for a specialist in southern California. I am in the Inland Empire area. After an x-ray showing possible bilateral coronal synostosis, my son was referred to the pediatric cranio-facial clinic of Loma Linda University Medical Center Children's Hospital. We had an initial appointment, and the doctor pretty much dismissed any concern of craniosynostosis and instead said he has plagiocephaly. However, my son has a ridge across his head, exactly where the coronal sutures are located. Part of the right coronal suture is indistinct on the x-ray, and it seems to me that there is slightly more ridging in that spot. I don't want to be the hypochondriac crazy mom, but I really feel that this is a problem and want at least a CT scan. I am waiting for a call back from the nurse case manager and I am going to ask them to review the x-ray again to hopefully get a second opinion to at least order a CT scan.I'm just not sure if I should bother with them after the first appointment resulted in nothing or try to find a completely different specialist/hospital for a second opinion. I just have no idea of where else to go. Please let me know of any recommendations!

We have been dealing with the Cranial Facial team over in Loma Linda as well. We are located in Victorville. Our son has Sagittal Synostosis. We originally met with Dr. Elmendorf and he ordered an urgent CT scan to confirm his craniosyntosis. We met up with the team that is going to perform the operation and they gave us the run through of what was going to happen during the procedure. They seem very confident and knowledgeable about our son's case. Our operation date is schedule for January. Everyone I've talk to has said that the craniofacial team at Loma Linda is the best here in So Cal.
