We're headed for our pre-op on Wednesday. Does anyone have any advice to share? I've heard that it can be a rough time emotionally...
I'm not even sure what to expect, I'm presuming bloodwork and paperwork, but they said for us to plan on being there 3 hours, so I just don't know what else may be happening.
thanks!

I found the anestisia (?) appointment to be the worst out of all of them, I guess that that was our pre-op appointment because we didn't have any other appointments after that until the day of the surgery. It was a hard appointment because they have to tell you all the risks, you're almost there Cathy. The days leading up to the surgery are the worst, David will do great....it was harder on me then Fiona. I still get emotional about it, and she's already forgot about it. David will amaze you...you'll be so proud of how stong he'll be and how fast he'll bounce back. :hugg

My Mackenzie's Pre-op appointment is also Wednesday. I am almost at ease about the surgery.. I am worried but I know that it is what is best for her. I am afraid that I will be more worried about surgery after the preop... YIKES! Time will tell.. Seems like you and I are going through this together.. :) It's good to have support.

Thanks everybody.
Today he woke up from his nap with a cold. I am SO hoping he will be over it before the surgery date. The doctors said we can discuss it further at the pre-op tomorrow. Argh....

Wishing you both good luck today! Sorry to hear about David's cold! Zack was on the tail end of one for his CVR...his ped wouldn't clear him the day before and called the ns, who said we'd let anesthesia decide the day of surgery. Talk about pins and needles! In the end, his lungs were clear and he had no fever, so we were good to go. Sending healing vibes your way!

Best of luck to you both today. I found the pre-op appointment to be pretty hard. It's like the appointment made it all more real. I too found myself more concerned for the post-op days than I did the day of, I guess I knew he would make it through the surgery with flying colors, but I wasn't sure how I could handle his recovery. You'll both do great! Thinking of you today!
