Hi Babu,

I can't answer your questions, but I'd love to see pictures of your son pre-op and today. My son also had metopic cranio. Glad to hear all is well!

Congrats! I'm glad he's doing great! You should ask your doctor what check-ups are needed. All doctors are different. Good luck!

My son is 3 years post op metopic today. We went for post op checks at 1 year and 2 years and do not need to go back until 4 years. We will probably continue on the 2 year schedule as long as he progresses normally. He needs to go from every year to every other year to have his eyes checked for pressure even though he is doing wonderfully. Seeing an ENT every couple of years was also recommended to us as a precaution. We have only been once and will probably go again next year before he starts kindergarten.
I have had him tested through the school district as a precaution just to make sure he is where he should be in comparison to other kids his age. He is actually testing much higher than his age cognitively. He has a slight problem with articulation and is a little behind in his fine motor skills. If I did not know he had a motor skill issues before surgery I would not have picked up on him being behind now. I really only knew it because I was watching him so closely.
Most of the follow ups are just precautions to make sure they stay as healthy as possible since there is always a small chance of the skull changing shape as long as it is still growing. Every surgeon recommends different things as far as follow ups when the kids get older. I would call yours and ask what they recommend for now and the future.
Hope that helps!
