I got a very short a brief reply from him saying he recommends a cranial facial doctor consultation, working with a team. Doesn't he work with a team? my insurance has him listed with them. I would deffiantly like to go to that doctor. But I don't want to sound stupid and ask "hey dont you work with a team" in a reply.

I would just call the office and set up and appointment and let them know that you had emailed him and recommended you see a cranial fascial plastic surgeon. You could also email Dr. S to let him know that you are calling his office and setting up a visit. :) I think that would be acceptable and you certainly wouldn't look stupid!

First of all don't feel stupid asking ANY question. None of us really knew what we were talking about when we began our journeys - it's normal and the surgeons are used to it. It's his job to answer your questions.

Dr. S. is a craniofacial surgeon and yes he does work as a team with a neurosurgeon. You wouldn't be out of place at all to ask what doctors on the team you would be meeting with when you make an appointment with him.

I just sent him a brief message stating i'd call their office during the week. The tricky part is getting my peditricans to approve a referral (they are pain the butts). However I feel it would be to my HUGE advantage being able to see this cranial facial doctor, being that I have him in ny state and my insurance works with him. Boy do you get nervous when you feel a glimmer of hope in someone giving you the answers you want to know.

I agree, it would likely be to your great advantage to have your son seen by Dr. S. He specializes in mild metopics, so I think he would be a great person to look at your son. Good luck getting the referral!

Dr. Staffenberg is a great surgeon. We met with him and loved him, but it was just too hard for us to travel to NY for the surgery. I know he does work with a neurosurgeon, but I"m not sure if it he'll be at the same appt. as Dr. S. You make have to make an appt. with him separately if needed.

Dr. Staffenberg has a lot of experience with cranio and will be able to tell by looking at your son if he as cranio. I agree, you are fortunate to be close to such a great surgeon.

We used Dr. Staffenberg and YES he works with a large team!! He is now at NYU and has 3 NS's but I'm not sure who. He was at Montefiore when Cameron had his surgery. I know there were a TON of people in the OR during his surgery. Dr. Staffenberg did his part inbetween the NS who does the beginning and ending of the procedure. Dr. S is wonderful!!
