We have been referred to OHSU/Doernbeckers in Portland Oregon and our appointment isn't until May 18th to do a CT and meet with the NP, and Dr's Selden and Kuang. I have been researching other clinics and Seattle looks like it might be a good option for us but I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with either. Good or bad. Thanks Theresa

Emily had her surgery done w/ Dr. Wehby at Emmanual Children's here in Portland. I could rave on and on about her. We loved her and I would trust her w/ any of my children. If you want more info, please let me know.

Zach had his surgery at Doernbechers. We really liked it there. Drs. Seldon and Kuang were his drs. I can't say enough good things about them.

We're happy with the team at Doernbechers as well, I think they did a very good job. Are you closer to either location? We seem to spend a lot of time going back and forth.

We just had surgery at Seattle Children's. Loved the providers and the experience with the hospital and clinics. Who says things like that?! But, it really was the best experience I could have expected from such a situation as your infant having major surgery, etc.
PLease ask any questions! I'm happy to answer.

My best "cranio-mom" friend had her son's surgeries done at SCH, and has nothing but glowing things to say about them.

My son has all of his follow-ups, scans and in-between stuff done at Doernbecher (all of his surgeries are in California, due to continuity of care issues), and Dr Selden and Kuang are WONDERFUL.

Those are my two bits of feedback.

Our appointment is May 4th. We are also Dr. Kuang, I have heard nothing but great reviews about them, my main complaint is the wait to get in. But it's all part of the game. We are anxious to get in and be seen but I feel good know that it will be done at Doernbecher. We have been up there 3 times in the past year for other medical related issues and love their facility, and staff. They are awesome! It's nice knowing other people are going through the wait with us. As hard as it is.

Once you get over the initial diagnosis and besides the actual surgery of course..waiting is the hardest part of this. :hugg

Waiting is already hard! We have a diagnosis from the pediatrician, but we were referred to the specialist. My anxiety is trying to decide whether or not they are going to want to do surgery. Some days I am convinced I must be seeing things with her head shape and that I am over reacting and other days I am panicking that her appointment is not sooner and am certain she needs to be seen asap. I am wondering if I will actually get a surgery date at the initial appointment or not. That is how it went with a friend of mine who's daughter is also metopic, and saw the same doctor we see. She said she was seen and then had a surgery date before leaving the same appointment within a month from the initial visit. I am nervous and scared but I kind of want it to go fast like that because it means it is that much closer to being on the other side. And less time sitting in the waiting zone. It is so hard! I am just starting this cranio journey and am such a wreck some days. I am so impressed with the strength you fellow cranio parents have.
