Monkey has a date!

Just got a call from the hospital and February 25th is our date! We were originally told the surgery would happen sometime in March, so this is a bit of a surprise. But we'll be on the other side soon!

Now I have to go read all of those "what to bring to the hospital" and "what I wish I had known before surgery" threads I have been ignoring.

you're a week after Logan's! I think they only do cranio surgeries on Fridays as Logan's last one was a Fri too. We have our tour next Tuesday. They do private tours at your convenience through child life specialists for any kid that will be in the PICU. Also, check out their welcome guide if you haven't already. It has a lot of good info. http://www.connecticutchildrens.org/documents/publications/welcome_guide_5-29-09.pdf. Ask about a room for you & DH while monkey is in the PICU. We pay a flat copay so not sure if an extra charge, but it was the best thing ever!!! If you have any questions about the hospital let me know.

Glad you've finally got a date! Sooner is better than later, get it over with.
Don't over pack & don't stress about forgetting anything, have your essentials list, anything forgotten can be bought.

& remember, it really is true, it's harder on us than them.

Best of luck. Hopefully you will be able to get a room, we got one the second and third night and it was really helpful to be so close by. Not that I slept much but at least I could lie down for a couple hours. My advice is always to bring some snacks, but the cafeteria at CCMC is nice too, they have decent food and it's pretty cheap. You can just get cold sandwiches and a drink, or you can get hot food, salad bar, etc.
