Ok I am fully aware that it has been less than a week since my daughter's surgery and she is still really swollen but I have some questions:

1) How long does the swelling last? I want to know when I am looking at her "new face".

2) Before the surgery my daughter had big round brown eyes which I loved (like her Daddy's) and now she is swollen and they are all squinty. Will they go back to being round? Or did the orbital advancement make it so they are longer and more squinty now? :o(

3) Am I supposed to be washing her hair every day? The pamphlet said I "can" but am I supposed to? How long am I supposed to if I am?

4) How long was your child on tylenol? I am supposed to start weaning her off of the codeine tomorrow but how long do I keep giving her regular tylenol after that?

Any other post-surgery advice???

First off, she is adorable!
My son had the CVR, Forehead advancement, and orbital advancement. He was on Tylenol with codine for like 4 days then Tylenol. Regular Tylenol for about 2 days. Started 5 days after surgery with regular Tylenol. Regular Tylenol I would say on a as needed bases. You will be able to tell if she is uncomfortable.
The swelling will go down, give it a few weeks. As far as the orbital advancement, if it was anything like my son's. The outcome for him was less prominent eyes. Not as big. Still round. But I bet your daughters will go back to the way they were, beautiful. Don't stress. She looks wonderful!

With Charlie the main swelling lasted a few weeks & believe me i had the same worries about his eyes as you because one of them was more closed than the other. 5 weeks down the line & his big blue eys are back to exactly as they were before his op.
We only gave Charlie pain killers that the hospital gave us for 5 days & then stopped completely. If he had a bad day then we would give him our regular painkillers.
Our hospital told us to was Charlies hair every day for 2 weeks to help the stitches & scabs come off. That was the worst part for me as he hated his head touched & still doesnt like it. x

I gave Fiona tylenol for about 1 week after we were home, she was fine, I would give it to her at night. I washed her stiches for 2 weeks 3x per day. We went for our follow up and the doctor said I could stop because she develped a reaction to the ointment, they look great now, I just wash her hair every 2nd day. The swelling could last up to 8 weeks (that's what I was told). Fiona's swelling is going down everyday, she always looks swollen in the morning form lying down all night, but by the afternoon she loooks better.
