So we have finally gotten a new date and time. She is going to be having her surgery October 9th at 11:45 am. It was supposed to be today but she was bumped for an emergency surgery. I am excited for it all to be over and completely terrified at the same time. This all happened so fast. We only got the surgery date 8 weeks ago...I haven't really had time to process it all! I AM glad that I finally got on this site though...it seems like there is a lot of support here!

Well just a quick update from the hospital. The surgery went routinely and all went well. It was more challenging than they thought because the actual BONE had curved instead of just coming to a point. But they fixed it (the surgeon actually looked excited...I think he liked the challenge LOL). She is swollen but doing well. She has been drinking water and just had some formula about an hour ago. They are going to wean her off of the morphine over today and onto tylenol with codeine so they can take out the catheter and take her out of the baby room. She did end up needing a blood transfusion but she is doing fine now. I am taking pics as we go and writing everything down in a little notebook so I will post the full story with pics when we get home (probably Friday or Saturday). Just thought i would pop in and say she came through like a champ....she's a little trooper! Thank you everyone for your support!

I'm so happy for you both!!! I know that BC has a wonderful children's hospital. It's such a good feeling once it is over...the waiting is the worst. I'm so glad everything went well for you. Can't wait to see the pictures.
Isn't it stange to see her without a triangle forehead???

Thank you all! They are hoping we can go home Friday so I will be able to post some pics. Right now her triangular forehead is a distant memory but mostly because she is SO swollen that her head looks worse and misshapen right now and it is breaking my heart. I started crying today wondering if I did the right thing since it wasn't that noticeable before and now she looks terrible. But the swelling will go down and I will be ok. She is at the peak of it now so tomorrow should be a bit better. They took off her dressing and they did shave quite a wide stripe on her head :o( She is off morphine and on tylenol with codeine now. All her tubes/catheter/I.V.s are out too so we could pick her up easier which was nice. They are still waiting for her to pee though so she may need to have the catheter again :o( Also her hemoglobin was low the first night and lower yet today so they are deciding whether she will need another transfusion or just iron supplements.

Your emotions will be all over the place at the moment it's only natural. You have done the right thing and beautiful Azia will improve on a daily basis so your not seeing the true results as yet. It will take a good 6 months for all the swelling to go completely down but she will be back to her normal self within a couple of weeks. Hang in there mummy xx
