TAPE!!! Stuck on incision, HELP!!!

5 days post op--

Samantha has two pieces of tape stuck on her head : (

They are from the gauze that was taped over her drain site for the first 24 hours. In order to make it stick, the surgeon put the clear medical tape on in some silly way, and now that we have the gauze removed, there is one piece stuck on her forehead, and one piece stuck ON HER INCISION!!!!

We keep applying the antibiotic around the edges, but it hasnt budged yet. Im afraid I cant get the antibiotic directly onto the two or three sutures that the tape is covering, and Im terrified of infection setting in.

Bathing hasnt helped, and I dont want to put oil on her incision site.

Any experience with this?

I wish I had advice for you :hugg Fiona had nothing put on her head after the operation. I would call and ask what you should do.

Ditto Janet. Is it possible for you to take her in and ask a nurse to remove it. I know from some of my ops, especially the one on my ear where it was rather intricate, I didn´t dare attempt it myself and a nurse did it for me.

I didn't have that happen but you can buy adhesive remover pads like what they use in the hospital you rub it over the tape and it makes it come right off. I believe they sell them at any drug store.

Thanks ladies. We remembered we had a surgical nurse in the family, and we called her.
You know what took it off? Water!!!
We just had to soak it a few times (wet gauze) and they both finally came off!
Whoo hoo.
