Hi everyone, my son is 3 weeks post op from having a modified pi procedure for sagittal (open surgery with all over reconstruction to skull). He has been doing really well and healing pretty nicely. The other day, though, I noticed a very tiny bump on the side of his forehead, an inch or 2 above his eye. You can't really see it, only feel it. It feels very hard and even a little sharp. The nurse I spoke with on the phone first mentioned that it might be a part of a screw they used but we didn't have any srews used!! She also mentioned that another parent called about this? I emailed a pic to them (even though it's not noticeable), and waiting for the surgeon to hear about it tomorrow morning. Has this happened to anyone? Or anyone ever heard of this happening??? :sigh I have no idea what this could mean or what we would have to do next...

So, what would happen in that case?? Do they leave them in, take them out? Does that pose any harm to child? Still have not heard back form them yet...

My son had some odd lumps after his surgery (also pi) but none of them felt sharp, just hard. Hopefully they will call you back soon! Do you have a one month check-up coming up -- maybe they could move that closer for you??
We didn't have any screws either so I can't help with that question.

You can feel lot's of wires on my son's head that feel like screw tips but unless they are hurting then i dont think they will bother about them.
Normaly as the head heals & new bone grows they get covered by new bone growth but this does take a year or two to happen x
