David was placed with us as a foster care placement at the age of 5 weeks old. He was born 6 weeks early and exposed to cigarette's, alcohol, and various prescription medications. When were called to consider him for placement, we were told his head looked funny, and that he was on oxygen, but they really didn't know much else.
When I picked up my baby boy that day, I was shocked at his head. From the top of his head, he literally looked like a triangle! I had never seen anything like it.
We began a crazy journey that day. David struggled with eating, sleeping and everything in between. He remained on oxygen until 3-4 months of age. We had Dr. appt. after Dr. appt. He has had multiple surgeries. He had a hernia repaired, he had a feeding tube placed and of course, the cranio repair. He is developmentally delayed, and will probably never be completely "average."
All of that said, I'm crazy about my baby!!!! We love him dearly, and I would do all of this over again. We are dreading the second repair, and hope that it will be the last one. I'M HAPPY TO SAY WE FINALIZED HIS ADOPTION ON AUGUST 2ND OF THIS YEAR!!!!
I'm just so glad I found this website!!! It is awesome to share our story!
Here are some Pics:

Poor little bub, he has been through so much! Thank God for angels like you! It sounds like he wouldn't of had a chance if he had stayed with his biological mother, thankfully it sounds as if it wasn't even an option. Bless you!:hugg

Thanks~
I have to be honest and say that early on, we didn't think we would adopt David. I was so fearful of the future. But, the more we went through with him, and watched him grow and saw his determination, we knew he was ours. It was a total God thing! Being a foster family has been such a blessing to us. Our daughter is also adopted. We got her at 3 mos. of age. We adopted her right before Christma last year! Our family has really grown!

It's so hard seeing little ones have to go through so much. David is very lucky to have parents like you to love and care for him. Best of wishes on the 2nd surgery.

David's mommy- you are truly an angel. Being a social worker myself, I wish I could say that your love and generosity are common, but it is not. I am so happy that David has such a great mommy!
