I just got an email from Aine. Sounds like things are going well! Hopefully we can get together before they go back to Bermuda. Here is her email:
Hi - just a quick update as I am on my way back over. my partner stayed with her last night. the surgery went well. she needed a transfussion and they were giving her more plasma last night. They took her from us at 3, at 4.30 made the incision and by 6.15 had closed her up. We didn't get to see her until 9 and she wasn't moved out of recovery until 10 or so. She was quite distressed last night and I think it sounded worse because her voice was so raspy. It was hard to comfort her and I pretty much fell apart! The upside is that she is doing well! Its just the parents that need the numbing medication but it is so hard to see her suffer.
